I am taking part in The Dream Run to help Australian kids in need achieve their dreams.

1 in 6 Australian children are living in poverty and don’t have equal access to an education. Together, we need to support these kids so they can dream BIG and create a better future for themselves.

So I am taking on this challenge and raising funds for The Smith Family to help children in need make the most out of their education.

Day 8 - Herbert’s Hill

Sunday 8th Jun
A freezing walk today - that wind is carrying ice. A solid loop from Narellan Town Centre through Elderslie, and a final push up Herbert’s Hill to finish up. Herbert’s Hill and the Rheinberger Cottage have historical significance to the area - but that’s all I’ve been able to find out about the single house at the top of the hill. Worth it for the view of Camden though.

Day 7 - Catching Up

Saturday 7th Jun
A long walk today as I'm mostly kid free! Good opportunity to catch up on podcasts (that's right, I'm old now and spend quite a bit of time with myself (AirPods died!)

Day 6 - Setbacks

Friday 6th Jun
I missed a day yesterday - I had a lot going on. What this actually did was cause me to drop back from my target by quite a bit! I was expecting to be at 42km by the end of today, and I am instead sitting at 31. The purpose of the Dream Run is to raise funds to help underserved kids to get an education - while a setback for me means a bit of extra work to catch up (and that sucks) the same is true for kids who have setbacks, but it is much harder to catch up.

Day 3

Tuesday 3rd Jun
The Miss Llewella Davies Pioneer Walk has changed a lot since it was my go to for a walk after the morning shift. The thing I really like about it though is that the old trail is more or less there - today I took the new and the old in two laps.

Day 2 - Living the Dream

Monday 2nd Jun
Day 2 of the Dream Run! I didn't quite manage to get an outdoor walk in, which is always my preference, so l hit my ancient treadmill. 17.5 laps of a virtual 400m track - 7km on the dot. Back to regular outdoor walking tomorrow!

Day 1 - Kicking off my Dream Run

Sunday 1st Jun
After so many enthusiastic donations were given last week, I had to engage with my Dream Run commitment fully and wholeheartedly! I took to the streets of Narellan today, walking a route I used to walk back in 2019 when I lived there. It’s been awhile since I’ve gone for a long walk. I won’t say this was easy - but then again, neither is growing up underprivileged. These walks will get easier, and so will the lives of the children we’re doing this for! If you haven’t donated yet, may my walking commitment convince you to contribute!
