Support my challenge to help Australian kids in need & READ UPDATES

I am taking part in The Dream Run to help Australian kids in need achieve their dreams and blogging my journey.

1 in 6 Australian children are living in poverty and don’t have equal access to an education. Together, we need to support these kids so they can dream BIG and create a better future for themselves.

So I am taking on this challenge and raising funds for The Smith Family to help children in need make the most out of their education.

Please donate if you can and support my challenge to change the lives of Australian children living in poverty.

Thank you.

2 - Dysentery??? Consumption??

Tuesday 2nd Jun
It is as I feared - the sticky hands of my family's illnesses have wrapped themselves around my neck. I have only the white horseman pestilence to beg for mercy as my throat croaks and stomach churns. Is this worse than anything anyone has ever experienced in the world? While doing "The Dream Run" are my own dreams going to be collateral as I loose myself to a yucky tummy? These are questions.

And now for some statements and such.

Thank you so much for everyone's help in reaching my donation goal!!! You are all legends and I really appreciate it.

I managed 2km today and I expect I will be doing 2km for a bit while the illness takes me. Jokes aside, I am not feeling too bad and am still very keen to walk everyday despite it. This is why I have previously invested in vomit bags. We don't want another situation like that bus in Kyoto.... hahaha.... haha.... ha....

I have no photos of today but shall give you a photo of my cat, Max who is assisting me with bed rest.

Remember to be proud of yourself for this year. Don't take what you have done for granted. You have done well.

1 - Hello There

Monday 1st Jun
Let me start by saying thank you everyone who has donated to the Smith's Family. I have almost reached my goal of $500 already!!! Which is just incredible. I'm so grateful for all of you 🤑

Walk #1 was conquered today! 6km puts me in a good place for reaching 50kms total. I've been planning to walk everyday and if I continue this way I will be at 180km by June's end. Which no one asked for.

I had aimed to map out a 2km walk and then another 2km extension to that walk. 2km would be the perfect everyday amount and the extra 2km could be added if I miss a day due to consumption or dysentery.

I had enlisted the help of my dear papa. He is an experienced hiker and an infamous walking companion. I did this for the sole reason that I possess no precise means to measure the distance and he has a smartwatch. Yes, this is how the 4km walk I had intended to do turned into 6kms. This will surprise no one who knows my father well. I consider myself lucky we did not reach double digits. Still, he is a consistent (relentless) companion and keeps the mood light in what turned out to be an extremely wet and muddy walk.

In the end, despite ending the walk soaked through, I am happy with the routes we mapped down by Merri Creek. I shall try to highlight the landmarks in the following posts but it is a beautiful place. Dad said there was a possibility for a platypus to be in the creek and what is better than a platypus possibility?
