Support my challenge to help Australian kids in need

I am taking part in The Dream Run to help Australian kids in need achieve their dreams.

1 in 6 Australian children are living in poverty and don’t have equal access to an education. Together, we need to support these kids so they can dream BIG and create a better future for themselves.

So I am taking on this challenge and raising funds for The Smith Family to help children in need make the most out of their education.

Please DONATE NOW and support my challenge to change the lives of Australian children living in poverty.

Thank you.

That’s a Wrap! 22km Short… but 78km Strong 💪❤️

Tuesday 1st Jul

Hello and thank you so much for following along as I set myself the ambitious goal of walking 100km in June!

In the lead-up to June, I wasn’t exactly in marathon shape — I’d done almost no exercise for a couple of months thanks to the intensity of my first round of chemo. I started my second chemo cycle on 2 June, and while it’s a bit gentler in some ways, it carries risks of nerve damage in my hands and feet. Staying active can help reduce those side effects — so that’s why this challenge was so important to me: to gently rebuild a daily habit of movement and reclaim some normality.

When I first mentioned my 100km plan to the hospital staff, they were cautiously supportive — but gently hinted it might be a bit much while still in chemo. And, turns out… they may have had a point! 😅

Midway through the month (on 16 June), I wasn’t able to have my chemo as my haemoglobin levels had dropped, my liver wasn’t looking too flash, and I had kidney pain from what ended up being a silent bladder infection. No wonder I felt so wiped out! I managed just 5km between 12–18 June (all of them on Sunday 15 June 😅), then hit pause for some well-earned rest.

The great news? While I didn’t quite make it to 100km, I did walk a solid 78km, and more importantly — I got moving again! I’m back to enjoying walks, I’ve restarted yoga (much better outcomes for hands and feet with this chemo rather than just walking), and I’ve even started cryotherapy — check out the photo of me rocking icy mittens and booties during chemo last week! 🥶😂

To everyone who donated, followed, encouraged, or cheered from afar: thank you from the bottom of my heart. Together we raised an incredible $2,123 for The Smith Family, and that means the world to me. Your support gave me the motivation I needed to get up, get out, and feel strong again.

I may have come up 22km short, but I gained something much more important — momentum, strength, and hope. Onward from here! ❤️💪🥰

Only 4 days to go... YIKES!!!

Thursday 26th Jun
Hello and welcome to this slightly panicked update... oh my gosh only 4 days to go?!!

I had a week where I was a little blah... only achieved 5 kms that week! And I've kind of struggled to get back into a routine but I am determined and I still have 4 days (plus today!) to go... I can do this!!!!

I've made a collage of some of my snaps from walking including Mum deciding to do a workout while we were walking :D and Melinda and I enjoying the ducks in Woy Woy.

Hopefully I can make it over the line... I have 39km to go!

I haven't had my walk for today though and if I can just average around 8km a day until 30 June then I'm in with a chance.... fingers crossed I can get there!

Thanks all for your support to date x

Winter started with a 6.5km walk!

Sunday 1st Jun
With Phil and Tyrone by my side (Tyrone didn’t feel like being in the photo), I started the Dream Run with a dreamy long walk! We caught a beautiful sunset and saw the local duckies out for a swim. Tomorrow I start running… or at least Nadia-style jogging (which feels like running to me but is apparently very very sloooooowwwww 😂). Happy first day of winter people!!! N x

The 2025 Challenge

Tuesday 13th May
Hello and thanks for visiting my fundraiser page!

I signed up to the Dream Run last year because it's just a great cause that it's for and we all need some motivation to keep fit in winter.

This year I decided to do it again and not only because of the reasons I did it last year but also because of a very personal reason.

For those of you who don't know, in March I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I've been undergoing chemotherapy since the end of March. Before you worry too much I'm going to be ok: it was early stages, I'm expected to make a full recovery and I have an amazing husband, family and close friends providing me endless support :) I've even found a way to enjoy having no hair... enjoying new looks! (See photo for the different versions of me you may see over the next few months!).

However, the impact of chemo on my body is huge... and they say the more active you remain, the better you cope with/recover from it. But some days it's super hard to get out of the house and go for a simple walk.

I figured what better way to motivate myself than with a fundraiser for an organisation that does such amazing work supporting disadvantaged kids and families across Australia?!!

I'm ready for winter, for the next round of chemo and for you to help me raise motivation and funds for the families and kids that need the support of The Smith Family.
